I wouldn't necessarily describe myself as a "keen" runner, but as a habitually podgy individual, it has been the only thing I've managed to do consistently over a period of time. This was, of course, several years ago (before the bulldog, who I have been using as an excuse to sit around at home for the past two plus years).
Since January this year I have stopped allowing myself to make excuses (apart from a brief hiatus when it snowed a lot) and have dusted off my bright pink running shoes to get back on it.
And now, I want to ask for your help.
I'm doing two races this year, for two excellent causes. If either of these strike a chord with you, I'd be so grateful for your sponsorship.
I am running the Race for Life in Stevenage on 8 July for Cancer Research alongside some wonderful ladies I've had the pleasure of working with over the past few months. All of them have been deeply affected by breast cancer.
Then, in October, I am going to be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Arthritis Research UK. I'll be tweeting and whining, probably, about my training as we go and will keep you posted on how things are going.
