Yesterday we had no water in Baldock and Letchworth due to a burst water main. Ours at Bulldog HQ went off at lunchtime and didn't come back until sometime in the small hours. The impact of a short term loss of such a crucial resource was immense - shocking when you consider how many people around the world live without running water all the time.
Supermarkets sold out of bottled water by mid afternoon and there were huge queues and gridlock around the distribution points for bottled water until long into the evening. We were so relieved this morning to return to normal service - flushing loos, hot showers & easily accessible coffee making facilities.
Makes you very conscious of how very fortunate we are in the UK where we take all these things for granted.
Thank you to the folks working to fix the problem and trying their best to keep us going.
